Pancake Breakfast
March 12, 2006

The Pancake Breakfast was great fun and a big success. We worked hard to serve a hot and tasty breakfast, and make a very positive impression for our sponsors, the congregation of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Lilly did a fine job advertising the event and working with the church.

In preparation for the event, Mr. Recker and Brandon purchased all the food and supplies and brought them to the church on Saturday, March 11th. After the Blood Drive Sean and Mr. Sturrock set up the chairs and tables in Trevor Hall.

Mr. Recker and Brandon arrived early at church around 6:00 a.m., and the first shift of scouts started at 7 a.m.. It was a very cold, and cloudy day, with highs only around 50. Mr. Recker cooked the pancakes, and Mr. Murphy the sausage. Brandon led the scouts in setting up the tables and serving the first large group of parishioners starting at 8 a.m..

Most of the scouts attended the 9:30 a.m. church services with Mr. Mc Shane. After the service most of the congregation went to Trevor Hall and Brandon led the scouts in serving them. There were lots of scouts, adults, and family members helping. There were so many patrons that all of the tables and chairs in the hall were used. During the event Mr. Sturrock ran a video of past 2005 Troop 209 Treks on the large TV on top of the stage so everyone could see what we have done.

The last pancakes were served about 12:00 pm., and we finished cleaning up around 1 p.m.. There were more patrons and donations than last year!
