We met at the FUMC at 10 a.m. and left by 11 a.m.. We drove up several thousand feet to Lake Arrowhead on extremely winding roads. We arrived around 1:00 p.m. and unpacked. The camp consisted of dirt roads that were really dusty and left dirt everywhere. Our camp site "Upper Yuma" and "Lower Yuma" was in a forest of tall trees, and next to a nice stream. Our tents were canvas wall tents that were kept shaded by the trees. We went to the pool to take the swim test and receive the appropriate wrist band. The water slides at the pool were not open because they did receive the proper permits. It seems the camp was undergoing major reconstruction after forest fires destroyed much of the camp a few years ago. During the week we typically rose at 6 am, attended a flag ceremony, and had breakfast together. We went off to our classes, and then back to the dining hall for lunch. Then it was troop time, for doing activities together. In the afternoon we had two more periods of classes, and then free time. We changed for the closing flag ceremony and ate dinner.
Some activities we did as a troop were swimming in the pool, an overnight horseback riding trek, skits, and campfires On the last day several parents drove up to help transport the scouts and equipment. We broke camp, ate breakfast, and left camp about 10 am. The cars that carried troop equipment drove to FUMC to unload.
