Mr. Tyndall led a very fun 10-mile trek. We met at Pavilions at 9:00 a.m. We inspected the bikes, and found two tires that needed more air. We fixed them, and Mr. Tyndall gave us all safety lesson and explained what we were to do on this trek. We left at 9:15 a.m. The route was flat. No hills! It was a beautifully sunny, and cool winter day (about 50 - 60 degrees). We rode single file as Mr. Tyndall lead the overall trek, freely going to the front, middle, and back of our group as needed. Geoffrey was the lead off cyclist, while Mr. Merica headed up the rear position. We biked through side streets to the bike path on Riverside Drive, and rode along the LA River to Griffith Park. At 10:20 a.m. we stopped and ate a snack on a bicycle bridge overlooking Los Feliz Ave. We saw lots of wildlife in the LA River, including a crane, egret, pigeons, and mallard ducks. Then we biked though Griffith Park, past the LA Zoo on our way back. We arrived at Pavilions at about 11:15 a.m., and traveled a total of 10.68 miles. Scouts: Blake, Ethan, Geoffrey, Gordon, James, Jay, Matthew, Sean, Tyler. Trek Leaders: Don Tyndall Adults attended: Jack Merica, Mark Newton, Mary Greer, Mike Greer, Walt Sturrock, Yadira Davis.
