The Skiing and Snowboarding Trek was great fun. We left from two locations, the DeSimone house at 5:10 a.m., and the First United Methodist Church at 6:30 a.m.. We took the 5, 210, 15, 138, and 2 highways, and arrived there in an hour and fifteen minutes with no traffic! We arrived at Mountain High Winter Resort in Wrightwood, CA, around 7:30 am, and an elevation of 8,000 feet. It was 45 degrees and overcast. As the day went on the temperature rose until it was in the low 60s. Many scouts and adults had never skied or snowboarded before. We took classes for snowboarding or skiing, such as all day Children's Academy, Beginner Classes, and Blake, Kenneth, and Julian completed the Winter Sports merit badge. When we finished our classes we were tired and VERY hungry. We ate lunch, which felt so good! In the afternoon we skied and snowboarded in the warm sun. Each car left Mountain High at different times, between 3 and 5 p.m., and returned to the First United Methodist church in about an hour and a half.
