It was a cold and dark morning when we woke up to go to First United Methodist Church. We arrived at 6 a.m. and left at 7:20 a.m. We arrived at the Flying Jay (truck stop) at 10 a.m. to gas up and left for the ski patrol Nordic base. The elevation there was 8,300 ft above sea level! We took all the gear out of the trailer and put it on sleds and brought it to camp about 200 yards away. Then we cooked hot dogs over the campfire. Then Cash made a tottin chit and fire chit class for younger scouts. After that we made out emergency shelters. Cash brought out his Chain saw to cut of tree limbs off the giant fallen tree so we would not spend hours cutting them. After that we made dinner and had a snowball fight. When it was pitch black we visited some astronomers and saw some planets and galaxies. At about 12 a.m. we went to sleep in our tents or shelters that we built. Gordon, Mac, Murphy and Gordon only slept in the shelters. Sunday we woke up and made a pancake and sausage breakfast. Then we started to pack up and made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch. We finished packing up by using sleds to move the gear over the snow, and patrolled the camp for garbage. After that we sledded and had a snowball fight. For Lunch we had penult butter and jelly sandwiches with milk, fruit, and cookies. We left about 1:15 p.m. for the flying Jay. We arrived at F.U.M.C. at about 3:10 p.m.
