We woke to a warm morning, and went to the First United Methodist Church at 7 a.m. We finished packing the trailer and left for camp at 7:50. Along the way we stopped to put air in the trailer's tires. We arrived at the "Arthur Letts" campground in Firestone at 9:10 a.m. Then we unpacked, set up camp, and finally ate brunch at 11 Then the older scouts taught the inexperienced scouts first aid, fire building, and how to use a lightweight stove. After we finished with the first aid, we went with the park ranger to learn about local plants at a nearby stream/swamp and ate some plant roots that tasted good. We then attended a Totin' Chip class and fire building. Scouts also worked on lashings, knots and other rank-advancement requirements. Several scouts were able to complete the ranks of Tenderfoot and Second Class. After diner there was also lightweight stove class. When the sun went all the way down we played a game of C.T.F. (capture the flag) and went to sleep around 11:30 p.m. The next morning we woke up at 6 a.m. and made breakfast. When we finished we started to pack up. At around 9:30 a.m. we held a Scout's Own and discussed the weekend and "Thorns and Roses." We arrived back at the First United Methodist Church at noon and unpacked. At 1:30 a.m. we were done and everyone not working on building the bridge for the upcoming Webelos bridging got in their cars and left.
